Hi! My name is Bretton, and I do nails!
Well, I do a lot more than nails, but that’s what I am known for.
I started my journey in the esthetics world in August 2013 when I started school at MC College Winnipeg Campus. I graduated in February 2014 with an Excellence Diploma, the first person at the Winnipeg campus to earn that diploma. To earn that, I needed to achieve high grades in both theory and practical areas of my education.
I spent 4 years working at a spa, focusing my skills in gel nails and nail art. I loved being challenged by my clients, both to come up with ideas on my own and to live up to the inspiration pictures they would bring me. Playing with colours and designs, keeping up with trends, and making my clients' nail dreams come true made me love my job.
In keeping up with trends, I took a course for lash lifting in 2017. My lack in finding much passion in the non-nail areas of my field was no longer! I was amazed by the transformation I could create in someone’s face, just by altering their natural lashes. It quickly became one of my favourite services to perform.
In December 2018, I took a step back from working on the floor to try my hand at management. I helped curate a team within the spa, encouraging everyone to do their best and helping in any way I could to improve their skills. I loved mentoring new estheticians and helping give them the confidence to be amazing at their craft. But as many great parts as there were, I was not happy in that role. My passion for the industry always stayed with performing services, and I realized in the summer of 2020 that I needed to go back to that. I left my job at the spa I was managing and created my home away from home.
September 2020 I officially opened Bretton Does Nails (and Other Things, Too!). I joined the team at Mane Attraction hair salon on McLeod Ave. My goal for this space is for everyone to feel welcome, loved, and to leave happier than when they came in. Whether you get a manicure with a work of art, a pedicure with a relaxing massage and long-lasting result, a lash lift & tint so you can skip the mascara, or your unwanted hair removed by the root, my priority is to make sure that you leave with a smile on your face!
